Midnight at the Oasis
A welcome stop to travelers moving between Altaruk and Ledopolus, this oasis is owned by Grak, a half-elf mercenary who saw an opportunity to secure his fortune. He and his band of mercenaries built a mud-brick fortress over the ruins surrounding the pool and began charging for use of the water — 5 gp for a drink, 20 gp for a bath. As such, a tent city has sprung up around the fortress for travelers passing through or eager for water. Grak’s mercenaries provide some security for the tent city here, making it a relatively safe haven from bandits and savages.
In session 1, Grak’s Pool was attacked by a raiding party of hejkins and elementals. The players helped drive them off, and Grak offered to pay them to search the underground ruins and eliminate any more hejkins. Deep beneath the earth, the players found a series of druidic tombs.
In session 2, the party found an underground lake with an ancient stone spire, holding the imprisoned form of primal spirit Stone Brother, who’d been trapped there centuries ago by Lalali-puy. One of Stone Brother’s servants was inadvertently responsible for the hejkin attacks, driving them into a frenzy through a miscast ritual.
