Midnight at the Oasis
A sorceror-queen of considerable power, Lalali-puy (also called the Oba or the Forest Goddess) is the unquestioned ruler of Gulg. Her citizens revere her as the source of all Gulgan prosperity, as she is the bringer of rain and protector against external threats. Lalali-puy owns everything in Gulg — property, beasts, food — and sees to its equal distribution among the dagadas (or communities).
While Lalali-puy is a powerful psionic and arcane caster, as well as one of the most powerful defilers on Athas, she also uses dark rituals to bind primal and elemental spirits and force their obedience, which gives her mastery over nature and enables Gulg to prosper. (The party found that Lalali-puy was responsible for binding Stone Brother in fiery torment deep underground beneath Grak’s Pool.)
Her templars are called ngangas, and they are terrifying warriors and witch doctors. All wear masks or paint their skin to hide their faces, as they are cut off from their families at training (and must “die” to join the templars).
